In this practice, we were tasked to print a bridge to show the importance of supports.

Firstly, we had to draw a bridge structure on rhino, with various variations of length amongst the class. It was then exported to Ultimaker cura to be printed.

To remove the finished print, i had to pluck it out from the base plate, while being wary of the temperature of the nozzle which can reach up to 240°C. The base plate was also heated.

Our first failed attempt. Filament got stuck in the machine and had to be refed through the nozzle. Also recalibrated the base plate to ensure that the base plate was even.

Calibration Cube

In this exercise, we were tasked to print a calibration cube in the fastest time

1st Attempt

In this attempt, we realised that the base was not sticking to the plate of the printer. To fix that, we changed the base of the model to a raft base.

2nd Attempt

In this attempt, we realised that the base was printing well. However, the model did not print properly. To fix that, we had to revert certain settings.

3rd Attempt

In this attempt, The printer stopped feeding filament through the nozzle after a while. We found out the cause of the problem. The filament was stuck in the machine and we had to refeed the filament in order for the printer to work again.

The accurate 3D print of the calibration cube.

Time taken: 11 minutes
